Nghiên cứu này đề xuất mô hình đánh giá năng lực số áp dụng cho các cơ sở giáo dục đại học Việt Nam dựa trên các mô hình trưởng thành số cho doanh nghiệp kết hợp với phân tích khung chuyển đổi số cho giáo dục đại học. Đánh giá năng lực số là cần thiết để doanh nghiệp, tổ chức biết mình đang ở đâu trong hành trình chuyển đổi số, trên cơ sở đó đưa ra những chiến lược và lộ trình chuyển đổi số thích hợp. Rất nhiều doanh nghiệp, tổ chức đã sử dụng mô hình trưởng thành số để đánh giá năng lực trong quá trình chuyển đổi số. Cơ sở giáo dục đại học có thể được xem như một doanh nghiệp để áp dụng mô hình trưởng thành số, nhưng là một lĩnh vực đặc thù cần có những nghiên cứu, đánh giá phù hợp.
